Wolf Alice took to the Pyramid Stage for their sole set at Glastonbury 2016 this afternoon, where they reminisced about unsuccessfully auditioning for the festival five years previously.
Entering the stage on the dot at their pre-appointed 15:00 stage time, the four-piece delivered a confident and polished set that was befitting of their elevated position on the festival bill - although frontwoman Ellie Rowsell did joke to the large crowd that the band "didn't know what we're doing on this stage."
Rowsell addressed the crowd on numerous occasions throughout the set, and at one point revealed that the band had entered Glastonbury's rising talent competition five years ago, but failed to win.
"About five years ago me and Joff [Oddie, guitar] applied to play Glastonbury in some emerging talent contest, and we didn't get through and we were really sad," she said. "[But] this is more than making up for it!"
Rowsell also confessed that prior to the show she didn't believe that anyone at the festival would turn up to watch the band's set - this didn't turn out to be reality, as the band were watched by a very sizeable crowd in the Pyramid Stage arena.
At the end of the band's hour-long set, Rowsell jumped off stage and ran along the barrier between the crowd and the stage, high-fiving and kissing festival-goers in the front row.
