A Lou Reed tribute concert has been announced in honour of the late musician. The show is set to take place this Saturday (July 30) at New York City’s Lincoln Center and will be an all-day event celebrating the life and works of Lou Reed and the event is free for people to attend. The Bells: A Daylong Celebration of Lou Reed takes its a name taken from the title track, 'The Bells', from Reed’s 1979 LP and was selected by Reed’s widow, artist Laurie Anderson and his long term producing partner Hal Wilner. “It’s going to be an amazing day,” Anderson said in a statement to the Guardian. “It’s a gigantic puzzle, with all the new things we’re going to add to the mix. People just hear about it and say, ‘Hey, I’m going to be in town, can I play?’ We’ll never say no to that.” With the program having only been organised in a few days before the event, Wilner explains in an interview with the Guardian, “There was a blank page, six days before [the show]. It’s an exciting thing because you get these moments that you probably wouldn’t get if something was rehearsed to death.” Performers have already been confirmed for the day, with a band including Sonic Youth members, who will play a set fronted by the likes of New York Doll’s David Johansen, Lenny Kaye, Jon Spencer and many others. ANOHNI and Mark Kozelek will also perform a collection of Reed’s love songs alongside other surprise performers. Moreover, William Dafoe, Steve Buscemi and more will be in attendance to read Reed’s lyrics. Lou Reed died on October 27, 2013 from liver disease. He was 71 years old. The Bells: A Daylong Celebration of Lou Reed will take place all around the Lincoln Center as part of the location’s Out of Door’s festival.

Demis Roussos & Petula Clark - From Souvenirs To Souvenirs lyrics

A lonely room and empty chair
Another day so hard to bear
The things around me that I see remind me of
The past and how it all used to be

From souvenirs to more souvenirs I live
With days gone by when our hearts had all to give
From souvenirs to more souvenirs I live
With dreams you left behind
I'll keep on turning in my mind

There'll never be another you
No one will share the worlds we knew
And now that loneliness has come to take your place
I close my eyes and see your face
